My favorite moment in CNBC’s video coverage of LikeSo: Your Personal Speech Coach happens halfway through the mustached millennial’s TalkAbout session. He has a realization that he is “…thinking more about my words than I am about the question, okay?!”  Yes! That’s more than okay! Being a great speaker is partly about developing the skill to speak eloquently on the fly.

The CNBC story by Zack Guzman, “This app will save you from saying ‘like’ over and over at your next interview,” does an excellent job capturing the sessions of five millennials who demonstrate how the LikeSo app can help us practice and bring awareness to our speaking skills on a bunch of different Topics, from “Famous Faces & Places,” to “Small Talk,” to “Speed Dating.”

The woman with the black hair kicks off the video saying, “I was even told during a college interview that I say ‘like’ too much!” Good news!  LikeSo just introduced a new Topic called, “The College Interview.” Now students heading to college can practice with questions like, “What are your future plans?” “What do you want to study?” and “What are you passionate about?”

The man who thought he was a great speaker and the one that participated in his middle and high school debate teams both scored an A!  Awesome!  Debate teams are a safe and welcoming place to practice speaking articulately and with reasoned arguments.  LikeSo is now  partnering with the National Speech & Debate Association for its expert content and outreach to debate teams across the country.

To answer the question of the woman who uses “autumnal” and wonders if she gets extra points for using big words.  Not yet!  But a great idea!  After her session, her results show that she said “like” five times.  She says, “That was my problem in middle school and I still have it!”

The green-eyed blonde is surprised when she gets her results and sees that out of 14 total fillers, she said “like” seven times.  She tells us, “I don’t want to be seen as one of those ‘like’ Valley Girls.  I aspire to being a sophisticated, ya know, rigorous journalist!”

LikeSo can help!  It just takes practice and LikeSo is your personal speech coach in your back pocket!
